Share

A nonprofit agency that supports social services in Thousand Oaks held a reception Saturday to unveil a $2.2-million Human Services Center.

The 2-story center on East Hillcrest Drive will house 26 social service agencies, said Marion Schillo, spokeswoman for Community Conscience, which raised funds for the center from businesses, religious organizations and individuals.

Eighteen of the agencies are privately run and will not be charged rent, Schillo said. Those agencies’ savings on rent will total about $270,000 a year, she said.

Operating costs for the building will be paid for by such government agencies as the Social Security Administration, she said.
