Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Man at Phone Booth Fatally Shot in Head

A man was fatally wounded early Sunday while standing at a telephone booth in Santa Ana, police said.

The man, identified as Antonio Valdez Valadez, 22, was shot once in the head about 1:45 a.m. as he stood at a booth near an apartment complex at 811 S. Fairview St., police said. He died 4 hours later at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center.

Police said they had no motive or suspects. Valadez was found by a passer-by, but police said they have not found witnesses to the shooting.

Police believe that Valadez lives in Santa Ana because he was not driving a car, but they have not determined an address.

Police said they did not know whether he had been talking on the telephone when the shooting occurred.
