AMC Entertainment Inc. said its board has established a special committee, consisting of outside directors Paul E. Vardeman and Charles J. Egan Jr., to conduct an independent investigation into financial irregularities and infidelities involving the Kansas City, Mo., company. The special committee was formed after a management-initiated internal investigation resulted in a finding that company funds had been misappropriated and an admission of wrongdoing by George B. Jones, the company’s chief accounting officer.
