Local News in Brief : Police Identify Man Killed in Rape Attempt
Aman fatally stabbed as he attempted to rape a woman in her Van Nuys apartment was identified by Los Angeles police Wednesday as Duron Marquez, 22.
Marquez apparently did not know the woman who stabbed him once in the chest Tuesday with a 5-inch kitchen knife as he struggled with her in the bedroom of her apartment in the 7300 block of Ventura Canyon Avenue, said Detective Daniel Riehl of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division.
Marquez entered the ground-floor apartment through an unlocked, sliding glass door, Riehl said. The attack may have been random, he said.
Police refused to disclose Marquez’s address, except to say that he lived in Los Angeles.
