Five Arrested in Police Raids on 8 Homes

Police raided eight homes in La Habra and Whittier early Saturday and arrested five men in connection with gang activity.

The arrests were the culmination of a joint investigation by the Orange County district attorney’s office and the Brea and La Habra police departments into a series of gang-related shootings in the two cities, authorities said.

Two La Habra men, Guy Perez, 22, and Valentin Dominguez Jr., 23, were arrested in connection with the shooting and wounding of Jose Sanchez, 20, of La Habra in Brea on Nov. 30. Perez and Dominguez were held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, according to Brea Police Lt. Chester Panique.

Three other La Habra men were taken into custody. Raymond Gonzales, 21, was held in connection with possession of stolen property; Paul Morales, 18, on suspicion of possession of an illegal weapon, and Steven Hernandez, 19, in connection with possession of narcotics. All were being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Police also recovered stolen property, several firearms and 2 ounces of cocaine.
