Sting, David Bowie, film producer David Puttnam and other British pop-culture notables have helped launch a new environmental group, Ark, which plans to market environmentally sound fast food, household cleaners and shampoos. Officials of the group told a news conference Monday that they hoped to open a restaurant serving vegetarian hamburgers in London by the end of 1989 and to start selling Ark brand lines of bio-degradable detergent and soap in April. Former Greenpeace Director Bryn Jones said Ark would be the beneficiary of a possible “Live Aid”-style pop concert in London later this year, but no details were available Monday.
