IN BRIEF : Iowa’s Hartlieb May Miss Bowl
All-Big 10 quarterback Chuck Hartlieb underwent arthroscopic knee surgery the day after Iowa’s regular season finale and has not practiced yet for the Dec. 31 Peach Bowl, according to a published report today.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette, citing unnamed sources for its information, said in today’s edition that Hartlieb had knee surgery Nov. 20, the day after the Hawkeyes concluded the regular season with a 31-22 victory over Minnesota.
According to the newspaper, the sources said Hartlieb has not taken a snap in practice as Iowa prepares for its Peach Bowl game with North Carolina State in Atlanta.
Iowa Coach Hayden Fry, newly named offensive coordinator Carl Jackson and Hartlieb were not immediately available for comment.
Hartlieb was bothered by his right knee after injuring it against Iowa State on Sept. 24.
