Raider Coach Fires Pair of Assistants
Two Los Angeles Raiders assistants, quarterbacks coach Tom Walsh and offensive backfield coach Joe Scannella, reportedly have been dismissed by first-year head coach Mike Shanahan.
The Los Angeles Herald Examiner, attributing the information to unidentified sources, said the pair of coaches were let go Tuesday.
The moves came just two days after the Raiders finished their season with a 43-37 loss to Seattle that closed Los Angeles’ season at 7-9.
Walsh, 39, and Scannella, a coach for 36 years, were holdovers from the Raiders’ staff of Tom Flores, who retired last year after a 5-10 season.
