Third baseman Steve Buechele, a former star at Anaheim Servite High School, agreed to a 2-year contract worth $960,000 with the Texas Rangers.
Buechele, 27, who will earn $410,000 in 1989 and $550,000 in 1990, batted .250 with 16 home runs and 58 runs batted in last season.
The Rangers also said that relief pitcher Craig McMurtry had agreed to a 1-year contract worth $275,000.
