Varied Views of ‘a Fine Restaurant’

We are concerned neighbors who live either directly behind the Center at Coldwater project, across the street or on Dickens Street within a radius of 300 to 500 feet from the operation. We are residents of Studio City where the building is located, not Sherman Oaks whose boundaries start several blocks from the location. Therefore, we are all very familiar with the previous restaurant operation on the property (Tail O’ the Cock) and were very sorry when it closed and we learned that a large shopping complex was to take its place.

We were all delighted to learn that a quality, first-class restaurant, the Bistro Gardens, was to occupy the same position in the new complex, and we understood that the liquor license was issued under even more stringent terms than the previous one to the Tail O’ the Cock. The Tail was very popular and, particularly on weekends, enjoyed a large number of patrons. Although we all live very close, we were never disturbed by noise from music or the activities of the patrons and employees of the restaurant.

All of us in this Studio City neighborhood are concerned with the traffic and parking congestion that will undoubtedly result from the shopping complex and are in full agreement with the effort to keep unnecessary traffic out of our community. But, since the complex is an accomplished fact and well on its way to completion, we strongly wish to have a fine restaurant there that will attract high-class shops and customers to the area, and therefore we and our neighbors urge that a liquor license be issued to the Bistro Gardens. This license already has the backing of the Studio City Homeowners Assn. and the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, which, after all, is the community in which the Center at Coldwater is located.
