Man Teaching Girlfriend to Defend Herself Is Killed With Her Shotgun
A man teaching his girlfriend how to defend herself was killed when she shot him in the face as he pretended to be a burglar in their home, police said.
Frederick Williams, 26, was killed Thursday by a 12-gauge shotgun blast at close range as he was teaching Yolanda Edwards, Duval County sheriff’s spokesman Asa Higgs said.
The couple had been discussing how Edwards, 21, could protect herself from intruders, and Williams gave her the shotgun to use for practice, deputies said. Williams apparently had loaded the gun and disengaged the safety.
Edwards told police she thought her boyfriend had unloaded the gun before handing it to her.
