The next step in the ongoing American-Chinese cultural exchange? A record/tape distribution entity, controlled from the United States and releasing product on video and audio cassettes for Chinese consumption. Pacific Bridgehead International, a new Los Angeles-based company that has established ties with the Chinese Ministry of Broadcasting, said the first Chinese release would be . . . an Australian artist, Olivia Newton-John. “Olivia Newton-John’s Greatest Hits,” to be released in January, has been approved for Chinese consumption by Chinese government cultural officials. More audio and video fare--including more Newton-John material--is scheduled to be released later.
