A 26-year-old woman died Sunday of head injuries received when the sports car she was driving slammed into a center divider on Interstate 5.
Audrey Donohue of San Clemente died at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol said.
Donohue was southbound on Interstate 5 near the Camino de Estrella off-ramp when she began weaving wildly across two lanes while going more than 90 m.p.h. about 3:10 a.m. Friday, officers said.
Donohue apparently swerved to the left to avoid a slower-moving vehicle and hit the center divider. A passenger, Suzanne Hefni, 28, also of San Clemente, suffered major injuries to her head and chest and was in serious condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, officers said.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
