Local News in Brief : Countywide : Council of Alcoholism Picks Executive Director

Following a nationwide search, William R. Rhodes, currently a program manager with the county’s Drug Abuse Services, has been named executive director of the National Council of Alcoholism of Orange County. The appointment is effective Jan. 3.

Loretta Arnold, president of the board of directors of the Orange County council, said more than 50 people from throughout the nation applied for the position. Rhodes, of Rossmoor, will replace David M. Larson, who is retiring after serving as director of the local council for 10 years.

Rhodes, according to Arnold, has an extensive background in the field of chemical dependency.
