Share

Diverse Industries of Van Nuys and two of its officers have been accused in a four-count felony indictment of mailing obscene materials to Minnesota, U.S. Atty. Jerome Arnold announced Tuesday in Minneapolis.

He said Robert Joe Garcia Easler Jr., 36, of Los Angeles, the chief executive officer, and Jacqueline L. Hunter, 40, of North Hollywood, general manager, would be brought to Minnesota to face the charges.

Arnold said the indictment was based on videotapes and magazines found in the company office in an authorized search Feb. 25. He said the search warrant was issued on a probable-cause finding that the material mailed to Minnesota was obscene.

The indictment was the result of an investigation by U.S. postal inspectors who used advertising and order forms distributed by the company in ordering material.

Arnold said each defendant faces a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Neither Easler nor Hunter could be reached for comment Tuesday night.
