Azusa : Supervisors OK Project
The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday certified an environmental impact report on a $15-million Azusa Redevelopment Agency project that city officials see as the keystone to downtown renewal.
The supervisors’ approval was required because $2 million for the project will come from federal grants, which are administered by the county Community Development Commission.
As planned, the 9-acre project on the northwest corner of Azusa Avenue and Foothill Boulevard will include 141 new luxury apartments and a 35,000-square-foot complex of offices and stores. A 26-unit apartment building also will be rehabilitated.
City officials said they expect construction to begin by fall, with completion a year later.
