Local News in Brief : Suspect Charged in 2nd of 13 Holdups
A man arrested as a suspect in a string of 10 armored car and three bank holdups in the past year was formally charged Wednesday with a second one of the robberies.
Steven Bernard Young, 29, was charged by the district attorney’s office with the $166,000 holdup of an armored car guard at the Cineplex Odeon movie complex Nov. 26 in Universal City. An alleged accomplice remains at large.
Young is scheduled to be arraigned today in Municipal Court. He was charged last week with the $180,000 holdup of an armored car Sept. 16 outside a Los Angeles supermarket.
Prosecutors are reviewing the other holdups to determine whether Young will be formally charged in those crimes.
