Police Say Woman Beat Son to Get Drug Money
Associated Press
PHILADELPHIA —
An alleged cocaine addict beat her 10-year-old son with a pipe until he gave up the $11 he had earned washing cars, police said.
The woman, Joanne Oliphant, 29, then left the house to buy more drugs, they said.
The boy, Jermaine, was listed in good condition Friday at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children with head, leg and arm injuries, officials said. His mother was arrested Thursday on charges including assault, robbery and theft.
