Oceanside
An Oceanside man pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree murder in the slaying of a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton.
Glenn Allan Silva, 33, could receive a life sentence for shooting Cpl. Robert Winters, 23, in the back on Aug. 31 on the base.
Silva is also wanted in New Bedford, Mass., in the killing of a woman there in 1984.
Silva’s attorney, Charles Adair, said Silva had been seeing Winters’ wife, and the motive for the shooting was a love triangle.
U. S. District Judge Earl Gilliam set sentencing for April 10.
Adair said Silva may plead guilty to second-degree murder once he is extradited to Massachusetts in the other case.
