Rep. Dornan, AIDS and the Telephone
Congressman Bob Dornan has again proved that he is totally out of step with current AIDS policy makers. In a recent news item, “Dornan Gives Bush Some Advice on AIDS” (Jan. 4), he said it was “fine” if homosexuals wanted to practice safe sex by using “erotic telephone conversations.” How witty! How wise!
So, besides making inflammatory and debasing comments to the press, what has Bob Dornan done to help in the war on AIDS? Ask the experts: the medical and social community involved in the AIDS front line is unanimous--Bob Dornan is a national embarrassment.
Maybe Dornan should use his telephone to learn more about respecting the dignity of people. Or, perhaps he would like to call a local AIDS hospice in Orange County and offer help. Instead, he promised to give a large donation to Mother Teresa’s AIDS hospice in New York City (of all places!). He has yet to fulfill that promise.
Bob Dornan can’t stop gay bashing. His perverse need to hurt people is a sickness of which all Orange Countians should be ashamed.
