Four Australia Trips

Continental Newmans Vacations, a Los Angeles-based tour operator, is offering a “Two-for-One” program to the Queensland area of Australia.

Two people can travel for the price of one in any of four packages that start at $1,799, including round-trip air fare, accommodations, transfers and at least one day of sightseeing. Three packages are for five nights, the other seven nights.

The offer is available until March 31; ticketing has to be completed by Feb. 15.

In a separate promotion, Continental Newmans offers six tour packages to Australia and New Zealand for $1 more than the cost of its round-trip APEX air fare to those destinations from Los Angeles.

Flights have to be on Continental Airlines. Round-trip APEX fares from Los Angeles to Sydney are $1,470 during the current high season and will drop on April 1 to about $1,000. So the tour package costs $1,471 now.

Your gateway city in Australia can be Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Cairns. Auckland is the gateway in New Zealand. There are four four-day packages in each city, each including three nights’ accommodations, arrival transfer and a city sightseeing excursion.

If you’re going to nearby Fiji, look into a new four-destination “Islands Pass” package offered by Fiji Air. For $100 you can visit the islands of Taveuni, known for its diving areas; Kadavu, which has backpacking facilities; Vanua Levu, with the port and resort area of Savusavu, and Ovalui, which has the old capital of Levuka.

All flights originate from Fiji Air’s hub at Nausori Airport, a 20-minute drive from the capital of Suva and a 40-minute flight from Nadi International Airport on the main island of Viti Levu. The pass must be bought in Fiji.

You can make your first flight reservation in Suva or at the Nadi airport. Subsequent reservations cannot be made more than 24 hours before departure, and tickets are not refundable after the first segment has been used.
