From Times staff and wire service reports

Catcher Bill Schroeder and outfielder Tony Armas signed one-year contracts with the California Angels today. Armas signed for $425,000--the same amount he earned last year--after filing for arbitration earlier in the day. He was one of seven Angels to file on the final day that players were allowed to do so. Schroeder, acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers during the off-season, signed for $375,000, a raise of $2,500 over what he earned in 1988.

Other Angels to file for arbitration were pitchers Kirk McCaskill and Greg Minton, catcher Darrell Miller, third baseman Jack Howell, shortstop Dick Schofield and outfielder Chili Davis. First baseman Wally Joyner filed last week. Joyner has requested a 1989 salary of $965,000, while the Angels have offered $750,000.
