Share

Their quick action to give cardiopulmonary resuscitation to Leroy Haines, 78, of Orange has earned commendations from the Garden Grove City Council for Dan Gibboney, 38, of Westminster and Jim Mathis, 53, of Garden Grove.

The two, who were bowling with Haines, helped him after he fell unconscious and stopped breathing. City fire officials credited them with saving Haines’ life.

“Without their efforts, I wouldn’t be here,” Haines told the council and audience at the awards ceremony.
