A motorcyclist died Sunday after he rear-ended a pickup truck on the Golden State Freeway in Arleta, was thrown onto the freeway and run over by two autos, authorities said.

The motorcyclist, whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, was traveling north on the Golden State Freeway near the Hollywood Freeway early Sunday morning at speeds of up to 90 m.p.h., said Officer Monty Keifer of the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist hit a pickup truck and was catapulted onto the highway, Keifer said. Two autos ran over the man and did not stop, he said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Keifer said.
