NHL Roundup : Making Most of Weekend, Sabres Sweep Bruins, 6-4
The Buffalo Sabres simply turned things around on the Boston Bruins.
The Bruins, known for years as one of the National Hockey League’s best come-from-behind teams, blew a 4-goal lead to the Sabres in Saturday’s 6-5 overtime loss in Boston and a 1-goal lead in Sunday’s 6-4 defeat at Buffalo.
With the 2 victories, Buffalo moved past Boston into second place in the Adams Division for the first time since Nov. 12.
The Sabres are 5-0-2 in their last 7 games and are 4-0-2 against the Bruins this season.
Rick Vaive, who has scored 10 goals in his 12 games with Buffalo since being traded by the Chicago Blackhawks, had 2 against the Bruins Sunday, including the game-winner midway through the final period.
Detroit 4, Washington 3--Joe Kocur scored an unassisted goal with 57 seconds left to lift the Red Wings to a victory over the Capitals at Landover, Md.
The Red Wings, who snapped a 3-game losing streak, tied the score, 3-3, on a goal by Dave Barr with 5:49 remaining.
