Pacific 10 Roundup : Elliott Leads No. 6 Arizona to 96-71 Win

Sean Elliott scored 20 points, and sixth-ranked Arizona overwhelmed Arizona State, 96-71, Thursday night a Pacific 10 Conference game at Tempe, Ariz.

Anthony Cook added 16 points and sparked a 21-4 surge that gave the Wildcats (14-2 overall, 8-1 in the Pac-10) a 21-8 lead 9 minutes into the game.

Trent Edwards scored 21 points for Arizona State (9-8, 3-6).

Stanford 75, Oregon 53--Howard Wright had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Todd Lichti scored 15 points as the No. 19 Cardinal eased past the Ducks at Stanford for its ninth straight home victory.


Oregon (7-10, 2-5) had a 25-24 lead with 3 minutes left in the first half, but Stanford (15-4, 7-2) surged ahead with a 17-3 run, and the Ducks never recovered.

Oregon State 69, California 64--Gary Payton scored 24 points, including all 9 the Beavers had in overtime, in OSU’s victory at Berkeley.

Payton broke a 60-60 tie with a 3-pointer at the start of overtime to give Oregon State (13-4, 6-3) the lead for good.

Cal (13-6, 4-4) went cold after taking a 60-56 lead in the closing minutes of regulation.
