No. 2 Tennessee Women Beat No. 5 Georgia
Bridgette Gordon scored 19 points and Daedra Charles grabbed 10 rebounds to lead second-ranked Tennessee to a 78-64 victory over No. 5 Georgia in a Southeastern Conference women’s basketball game Sunday.
Georgia (17-3 overall, 3-1 in the SEC) had a 49-47 lead, but Dena Head sank 2 free throws to tie the score and Sheila Frost put Tennessee (18-1, 5-1) ahead for good with a basket. Charles capped a 16-2 run with a basket that gave the Volunteers a 63-51 lead with 5:19 left.
Adrienne Shuler scored 15 points for Georgia.
