Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the slaying of a 40-year-old Cardiff man who was stabbed repeatedly in his driveway Tuesday morning by two unknown assailants.
Before he died, Robert Wayne Pearce of the 2200 block of Carroll View Drive was able to relate that he had been confronted about 6 a.m. in the driveway by two men, police said. They cut and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest and abdomen and left in a dark blue or gray four-wheel-drive truck with white striping, police said.
Pearce was flown by Life Flight to Palomar Memorial Hospital, where he died.
No motive for the slaying is known, authorities said.
