Hot Novel’s Win Ends Pincay’s Streak
Hot Novel defeated Fantastic Look and heavily favored Agotaras Wednesday to win the $80,700 Santa Ynez Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by 1 3/4 lengths before a crowd of 17,249 at Santa Anita.
Hot Novel, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and carrying 121 pounds, covered 7 furlongs in 1:22 4/5 and paid $11.40, $6.80 and $2.10.
Fantastic Look, ridden by Chris McCarron and carrying 114 pounds, finished a head in front of Agotaras and returned $6.40 and $2.10.
Agotaras, ridden by Laffit Pincay, was 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Some Romance and paid $2.10 to show.
Pincay, who won the previous five Wednesday feature races at Santa Anita during the current meeting, finished third.
