PREP BASKETBALL : Pacific Coast League Roundup : Trabuco Hills Clinches Share of Title, 78-59

Rick Swanwick scored 21 points and Randy Kriech 18 as Trabuco Hills High clinched at least a tie for the Pacific Coast League championship with a 78-59 victory over Laguna Beach Friday at Laguna Beach.

The Mustangs (16-5, 8-0) trailed, 16-10, at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Artists, 27-13, to take a 37-29 halftime lead. Trabuco Hills increased that lead to 55-40 at the end of the third quarter.

Swanwick led the inside game, as he had 16 rebounds. Luis Arenado came off the bench to score 13 points and hand out seven assists.

Dain Blanton scored 21 points, Sean Stafford 16 and John Trevino 15 for Laguna Beach (8-12, 2-6).

Laguna Hills 86, Costa Mesa 70--Senior guard Chris Sheff scored a game-high 31 points to lead host Laguna Hills (14-7, 6-2). Beau Hossler added 15 points and 7 assists.

Woodbridge 62, Orange 57--Woodbridge trailed, 46-45, after 3 quarters and finally took the lead with 1:30 left and hung on at Orange. Tom Shanklin scored 15 and Joe Cohen and Tim Corken scored 13 each for Woodbridge (8-10, 6-2), which is tied for second with Laguna Hills.
