About 15 knife-wielding youths robbed passengers on an inter-city train Sunday and attacked several who resisted, resulting in some injuries, Transport Police said.

“At least 11 people were robbed of cash, jewelry and other valuables and two people were taken to a hospital with head and neck injuries,” said a police official, speaking anonymously in keeping with British custom.

“We believe there are other passengers who were robbed and have not yet come forward.”

Police said the youths are thought to have boarded the 1:37 a.m. train to London’s King’s Cross station at St. Albans, 19 miles northwest of London. The train was traveling from Bedford, 46 miles north of London.
