A black youth who lived in a Soweto house owned by Winnie Mandela was found hacked to death, and police say he may have been a member of her controversial bodyguards. The body of Maxwell Madondo, 19, was found about half a mile from the house where the bodyguards, called the Mandela United soccer club, lived. Gen. Jaap Joubert, a senior detective probing the activities of the club, said he is investigating whether Madondo was a member. Police declined to speculate on any motive for the killing. Mandela blamed his death on family members of rival anti-apartheid activists.
