Super Bantamweight Ruelas Wins on TKO
Gabriel Ruelas may someday become a big box office attraction, but he will never be a commercial hit. Because when the North Hollywood super bantamweight starts hitting, there is no time for commercials.
Ruelas defeated Vincente Arias of Newark, N.J., on a technical knockout 2:08 into the first round of a scheduled four-round bout Tuesday at The Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J.
Ruelas floored Arias (8-8-1) with a solid right hand, followed by a flurry of punches and a right uppercut. Arias got back to his feet, but referee Paul Venti did not allow him to continue.
It was the eighth victory--six by knockout--for the unbeaten Ruelas, who boxes out of the Ten Goose Boxing Club of North Hollywood.
