IN BRIEF : Harder, Horse Racing Figure, Dies
F. William Harder, a Florida thoroughbred breeder and former member of the NFL’s Board of Governors, died Wednesday at the Miami Heart Institute. He was 84. Harder owned Elcee H Stables and was a former trustee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Assn. of Jamaica, N.Y. He was a trustee of the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and a former trustee of the New York State and National Thoroughbred Racing commissions. Harder was also an associate member and former member of the Board of Governors of the National Football League, chairman of the NFL Alumni, and a past chairman of the Super Bowl Board of Governors. Harder is survived by his wife, Lois Chillingworth Harder, and three daughters. Services are scheduled for Saturday.
