Artesia Council Rejects Scaled-Down Proposal for 4-Story, 90-Room Hotel
The City Council has unanimously rejected plans for a 90-room Ramada Inn after residents objected to the hotel proposed near the intersection of Gridley Road and 186th Street.
Residents who live near the site feared the project would result in a loss of privacy, increased traffic and parking problems in the area, City Clerk Pam McDaniel said.
The initial plans for the development called for a five-story, 113-room Holiday Inn at 11440 186th St. After residents protested, the project was scaled down to a four-story, 90-room Ramada Inn, McDaniel said. There are no alternate plans for the site, she said.
