Rodney Peete, USC’s two-sport star, will cast his lot with football.

The Trojan quarterback, who is expected to be among the first players chosen in the National Football league draft, doubled as an infielder on the baseball team his first three years. He did not report for baseball this season, however, nor does he plan to pursue a career in organized ball. Peete could have signed last summer with the Oakland A’s.

Said Peete: “I wanted to put all my time and effort into being the highest (NFL) draft pick possible. It was not an easy decision.”
