High clouds and balmy weather are expected to last a few more days, but then winter will makes its return, forecasters said Saturday.

Warm, moist air from the south will continue to bathe the region, bringing the high clouds that have been creating decorative patterns in the sky recently, said Harvey Hastrup of the National Weather Service.

“There’ll be a lot of sun and fair nights through Monday,” he said. But, he added, there is a 10-20% chance of sprinkles during the next couple of days.

Along the coastal strip, temperatures are expected to range between 48 and 57 degrees overnight with highs from 67 to 75 today. Inland temperatures should be from 40 and 47 degrees overnight and 75 to 82 today.

“Every day this month through the 20th, we were below normal temperatures, but since the 21st we’ve been above normal,” Hastrup said. The average seasonal temperature ranges between 51 and 66 degrees.

But the unusually high temperatures should slightly drop later this week, matching seasonal temperatures, Hastrup said.

In the mountains, along with possible light showers, temperatures should reach lows between 37-45 and highs between 60-67. Desert highs should reach the 80s, with lows from 52-60.

Meanwhile, San Diego’s drought continues, Hastrup said. Typically, the county receives 6.49 inches of rainfall during a season, which runs from July to June. So far, the region has only received 4.74 inches of rain.
