The owner of Becker’s barbecue restaurant was arrested after an explosion rocked the establishment late Saturday night and police found 40 to 50 pounds of black powder and bomb components on the scene, a spokesman for the San Diego Police Department said.

Witnesses saw Oscar Alvin Worm, owner of the restaurant in the 7400 block of Mission Gorge Road, leave the restaurant after the explosion occurred at 10:35 p.m. Saturday, the spokesman said. Worm was later arrested and another 150 pounds of black powder was found in a search of his home, police said.

Worm was being held and charged with illegally making and detonating explosive devices. Police said Sunday they did not know what Worm intended to do with the explosives.
