Kingdom Ties Mark in 60-Meter Hurdles
Roger Kingdom of the United States tied Greg Foster’s world indoor record in the 60-meter hurdles today, winning a meet in 7.36 seconds.
Foster set the record in Los Angeles on Jan. 16, 1987.
Kingdom took the lead at the start and was never threatened. Arthur Blake finished second in 7.63 and Jack Pierce finished third in 7.65.
Elated over tying the world mark, Kingdom took two victory turns around the stadium to the acclaim of the crowd standing on its feet.
“I owe my showing to the excellent condition of the track,” he said.
