Bell : 300 Volunteers Work on Graffiti Removal

Share

More than 300 volunteers, most of them schoolchildren, turned out for a city-sponsored “Paint-a-thon” last Saturday, Bell officials said.

The group began early in the morning and worked through the day to erase a majority of the graffiti that has been scrawled on fences, walls and signs in this two-square-mile city, City Councilman George Cole said.

“It was really impressive,” said Cole, who helped lead teams of volunteers with paint and brushes to rub out the graffiti, most of it gang-related.

Cole said that about 150 gallons of paint, donated by area merchants and the city, were used in the start of an ongoing anti-graffiti effort, called “Project: Off the Wall.”
