Long Beach Women Rout UC Irvine, 91-59
Penny Toler had 30 points, six steals and five assists to lead seventh-ranked Cal State Long Beach to a 91-59 victory over UC Irvine Wednesday in the first round of the Big West Conference women’s basketball tournament at Long Beach Arena.
In another game, Judy Mosley had 34 points and 13 rebounds to lead Hawaii (18-8) to a 71-64 victory over Fresno State (18-12).
Cheryl Dowell added 16 points for Long Beach (26-4), which was ahead at halftime, 43-31, and built the lead to as many as 43 points. The 49ers will play the winner of today’s Cal State Fullerton-San Diego State game in Friday’s semifinals.
Natasha Parks had 19 points for the Anteaters (9-20).
