Police said Sunday that they are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally injured a 7-year-old boy in an alley near the boy’s home this weekend.
The child, Victor Martinez Magana, died at Western Medical Center in Anaheim about an hour after being struck by a car at 3:57 p.m. Saturday. The incident took place in an alley behind the 1600 block of S. Jeffrey Drive, which is a block west of the Disneyland Hotel.
The child was said to have lived nearby, but his address was not released by investigators.
Anaheim officers said they are searching for a cream-colored sedan that is “possibly” a 1970s-era Chevrolet Nova. The car has a damaged left-front fender.
The driver was speeding south down the 20-foot alley, Sgt. Dave Severson said, when he lost control and glanced into metal garage posts in the alley before striking the child, Severson said. The driver then sped away.
