Local : Boat Theft Ring Cracked; 2 Held

A sophisticated statewide boat theft ring has been cracked with the arrests of two Southern California men, the state Department of Motor Vehicles said today.
Jack A. O’Connor, 25, of Buena Park and Timothy M. Kyelberg, 22, of Long Beach were linked to the thefts of more than 12 boats in 1988 ranging in value from $10,000 to $130,000, DMV investigator Bill Hall said.
The two men were arrested Friday by DMV investigators. They pleaded innocent at their Municipal Court arraignment to conspiracy and perjury charges.
