Atherton Menlo Girls Win Division V Title

Kate Paye scored 27 points to lead Atherton Menlo School to a 52-41 victory over Mission College Prep of San Luis Obispo Friday night in the State Division V girls’ basketball final at Cuesta College.
Menlo School (23-4), coached by former Stanford quarterback John Paye, scored the first nine points and never was seriously challenged. Kate Paye, a 5-foot 7-inch sophomore, is the coach’s sister.
Menlo center Laurie Stucker contributed 16 points.
Chris Mott had 15 points for Mission College Prep (24-4), which had its 20-game winning streak snapped.
