Too-Civilized Dining
The headline on restaurant critic Ruth Reichl’s March 12 review says “the dining is civilized--and so are the prices--at Victor Hugo’s.” And Reichl tells us that “dinner for two, food only, (costs) $50-$80.”
Let’s say $65 for food, and add $25 for one of writer Dan Berger’s recommended wines. Now we’re at $90. Add 15% tip, and 6 1/2% tax, and the tab for two would be $110. A bit too civilized for me.
