Chapman College in Orange will present honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees to Frank Capra and James Stewart during its commencement exercises May 28. Stewart, who will be 81 on May 20, plans to attending and accept on behalf of Capra, who will turn 92 on May 18. “We consider it a privilege to honor two gentlemen whose lives have so enriched one of America’s foremost art forms, the motion picture,” said the college’s acting president, James L. Doti, adding that the director and actor were being honored together because “so many of their greatest achievements are the films they made together.”
