Imperial Beach
Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the death of an unidentified Latino man who was found Tuesday night in the surf about 15 yards north of the Mexican border near Imperial Beach.
Sheriff’s investigators received a call about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday from Border Patrol agents who said they found the man, believed to be in his mid to late 20s and dressed only in gray cutoff shorts, lying at the surf line in Border Field State Park. The body was first spotted by a Tijuana police officer, who notified the Border Patrol.
The man was dead when investigators arrived, and no signs of trauma were found, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Described as having brown hair and brown eyes, the man was 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed about 140 pounds. An autopsy was performed Wednesday, and a determination is awaiting the results of laboratory tests.
