CITY COUNCIL RACES

The political science-economics department of Los Angeles Pierce College will sponsor a 3rd District candidates’ debate at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Campus Center Lounge, 6201 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills.

Councilman Ernani Bernardi of the 7th District holds a $25-per-person fund-raiser from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the LGT Vegas restaurant, 11000 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills.

Mervin Evans, a business development consultant and 9th District candidate, has received the endorsements of the Chicano Correctional Workers Assn., Latin American Law Enforcement Assn., Mexican American Correctional Assn. and the Mexican American Political Assn.

Bennett Kayser, 13th District candidate and former president of the Federation of Hillside and Canyon Assns., and write-in 5th District candidate Jack McGrath will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. Wednesday at a proposed $2-billion Porter Ranch development site.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE RACE

Jeff Shane, a Beverly Hills attorney and candidate for Office No. 6, will hold a $75-per-person or $125-per-couple fund-raiser at 7 p.m. Friday at the home of Hank Marmor and Lynda Slavett-Marmor, 5813 Laramie Ave., Woodland Hills.
