Film director Steven Spielberg, whose megahits include “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial,” has donated $5 million to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s pediatric program for research of childhood diseases, including cancer and genetic, infectious, blood, kidney and heart diseases. In response to the gift, the hospital’s board of directors has decided to rename a three-story building that houses some of the center’s pediatric research projects the Steven Spielberg Pediatric Research Center.
