The San Diego State University baseball team swept a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday from Wyoming at SDSU’s Smith Field. The Aztecs (20-13, 5-3) won the first game, 4-3, in extra innings, then breezed to a 12-5 victory in the second game.

Mike MacKinnon, just brought up from the junior varsity team, made an auspicious varsity debut in the first game, going four for five with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored.

MacKinnon’s second double with two outs in the eighth inning (the game was scheduled to go seven innings) of the first game keyed the victory. Livingston ran for MacKinnon and scored on Anthony Johnson’s single. John Hemmerly (4-3) went the distance for SDSU.
